Montgomery is widely known as the host city of the Civil Rights marches. The zeal for the civil rights has begun from here and widely spread all over America. All the blacks took part in the civil rights marches and the bus boycott while fighting for the equal rights for all.

The Alabama Civil Rights marked its beginning in 1955. The spark for fight for civil rights was aroused by a lady garment-maker, Rosa Parks. On 1st of December, 1955 it was a normal evening as any other day, Rosa Parks was going on the way to her home in bus after completing her shift. She was sitting on the seats reserved for blacks and due to the crowd she was instructed by the conductor to leave her seat for white Americans. She was too tired to convey up her bus seat and rejected to leave her seat. She was the first to raise voice against the color discrimination inequality hence was put against bar by the local police to abolish the rule. Her confident step that was taken without any intention was became the beginning of the Bus Boycott movement which later on contributed to the Civil Rights.

Rosa Parks was named as Rosa Louise McCauley by her parents at the time when she bore. She was born on 4th of February 1913 in Tuskegee, Alabama. She was the daughter of James and Leona. Her parents were separated and her mother with Rosa and her younger brother to live in their maternal grandparents' farms outside Montgomery in Pine Level. Due to financial problems and health issues of her grandparents Rosa has to leave her studies in-between and started staying at home taking care of her aged grandparents.

After her marriage with Raymond Parks in 1932 she became Rosa Parks. Raymond Parks was a barber and the active member of the NAACP. She was encouraged by her husband to continue her studies and she successfully completed her high school studies in 1933. In 1943, Raymond Parks become one of the members of the NAACP and elected as secretary.

On December 1st, 1955 she was arrested by the police on not abiding one of the segregation laws of vacating bus seat for the white's. Next day, on December 2nd she was bailed out by Mr.E.D Nixon one of leaders of civil rights. He called a meeting on the same day and planned to start Bus Boycott to fight back for equal rights and treatment. Just after 4 days of parks arrest, Bus Boycott has been a huge success. They demanded the changes in laws and created a new organisation called the Montgomery Improvement Association. Martin Luther King, Jr. was made its president later on.

Rosa Park's small action was became inspiration for all black Afro-Americans. She became popular as the first lady of march. The bus boycott moment marks the beginning of the Rights fight and Alabama Marches in Montgomery that was spread at national and international level. At the age of 93 Rosa Parks died on October 29,2005. Her confidence and courage to stand against inequality will always inspire all the coming generations.
