    • 1). Search for an area that is frequented by deer. When choosing your spot consider the distance from the deer, the weapon you are going to use and the visibility it allows. Also, decide now if you need a tower stand, a stand built on a tree, or one built for flat land.

    • 2). Check out the area that you are interested in building your stand. Privately owned land requires permission of the owner before you can build or hunt. Publicly owned land may only allow a temporary stand.

    • 3). Treat all the wood with a stain now or paint after construction.

    • 4). Construct the frame using the 1-by-1 pieces and wood screws. Stand one 1-by-1-by-5 vertical then, place one 1-by-1-by-4 piece against the bottom side of the 1-by-1-by-5 to make an "L" shape. Attach with screws to the upper corner of the wood piece.

    • 5). Place another 1-by-1-by-4 at a 90-degree angle to the first and attach with screws to the bottom corner of the piece of wood. Take care to not to cross the screws in the wood.

    • 6). Attach the last 1-by-1-by-5 to the 1-by-1-by-4 just added and attach the next 1-by-1-by-4 at a 90-degree angle with wood screws.

    • 7). Attach the two 1-by-1-by-6 pieces to the ends of the 1-by-1-by-4 sections and attach another 1-by-1-by-4 between them with wood screws.

    • 8). Hold another 1-by-1-by-4 piece at the top of the frame between the 1-by-1-by-5 pieces and attach with screws.

    • 9). Repeat with the 1-by-1-by-6 pieces to attach them to a 1-by-1-by-4.

    • 10

Use the jigsaw to angle the ends of the last four 1-by-1-by-4 pieces to make them fit between the top 1-by-1-by-4 piece and the lower 1-by-1-by-4 piece. You will need one on each end. Space the last two between them.

Use the jigsaw to cut a section out of the back piece of 4-by-4 plywood as an entry and exit. Then attach the back piece with wood screws.

Lay the stand with the 1-by-1-by-6 sections facing up and attach the 2-by-4 piece flush with the tops of the 1-by-1-by-6 sections. This will leave a one-foot gap or window to hunt from.
