"The headline is the most important element of an ad.
It must offer a promise to the reader of a believable benefit.
And it must be phrased in a way to give it memory value.
" ~Morris Hite You know the importance of a compelling headline.
It can make or break a perfectly crafted sales pitch.
There's no question about that.
But do you know how to craft headlines that stops people in their tracks? I know there are thousands upon thousands of "headline writing" tips but they are often confusing and sometimes contradictory.
Heck, some of them even are downright WRONG.
If you're a beginner, I want you to ignore all those noise and follow these 3 rules of thumb when creating a headline.
  1. It must offer a promise of benefit.
    No benefit, no attraction.
    Simple as that.
You don't necessarily have to state the benefits outright, but you do have to at least hint it.
    Easy right?
  2. The benefit must be believable.
    This one's a little trickier.
If you want to be believable, then don't over-hype.
State whatever you want to say at face value.
Another way to increase believability is to use specifics.
It's hard to lie with specifics and our unconscious mind will automatically know that.
For example, instead of "Make $5000 in less than a year", use this, "Male $4783 in less than 48 days.
    "
  3. Your headline has to has memory value.
That mean people should be able to remember what they read the next day.
    Now this one's tricky.
In a world where people are already over-advertised, how can you get people to remember your writing? Well, one of the best things you can do is to focus your headline on their problems.
People are naturally interested in solving problems and if you can associate yourself as their problem-solver, the'll inevitably remember you.
So there, craft a headline that has a believable benefit centered around your customers problems.
It's that easy.
