How to Convert DPI to PPI

104 1
    • 1). Obtain the printer's DPI by looking at the printer's specifications either on the manufacturer's website or under the printer configuration on the computer. Most printer's have variable DPI settings which control print quality. Most economy printers print as high as 1,200 dots per inch.

    • 2). Determine the number of dots per pixel in the medium in which the image prints. This number varies depending on the PPI and DPI selected. For example, a dots per pixel ratio of four is common.

    • 3). Divide the printer's DPI by the dots per pixel ratio to obtain the PPI resolution the printer will print. For example, a 1,200 DPI image quality with a four dots per pixel ratio produces a 300 PPI printing resolution.
