- 1). Drive a wooden stake into the middle area of where your pool will sit.
- 2). Measure the radius of the inflatable pool using the tape measure. Note this length.
- 3). Cut a piece of string equal to the length of the pool's radius. Attach one end to the wooden stake.
- 4). Wrap the other end of the string around the landscaping spray paint can.
- 5). Pull the spray paint can outward from the stake until the string is taut. Mark the circular area upon which your pool will sit by walking around in a circle while spraying the paint on the ground. Keep the string taut to maintain a consistent distance from the stake.
- 6). Attach the level to the narrow edge of the 2-inch-by-4-inch piece of lumber, toward the middle of the board. Wrap duct tape around the level and the board on both ends of the level to secure the level to the lumber.
- 7). Lay the lumber/level on the ground, level side up, so that one end is resting next to the stake, and the other end is at the edge of the circle. It isn't necessary for the lumber to actually touch the circle you've painted.
- 8). Study the level and notice where the bubble rests. If the bubble is off-center, the ground must be made higher or lower to center the bubble, or achieve level. When the bubble indicates the ground is too low, add sand and spread it over the low area with the rake. If the bubble indicates the ground is too high, remove sand and smooth with the rake. Continue until the bubble rests in the center of the level.
- 9). Repeat this process in approximately 20-degree increments, with one end of the level staying near the center stake. Add sand in low areas until level indicates the ground is level.
