How to Wire an Amp Dual Input
- 1). Plug one end of the guitar cable into the output port on the electric guitar. This port is usually located on the bottom, right side of a guitar, from the perspective of the one holding the guitar. It can be on the face of the guitar or on the rim. It is a small, round, metal-rimmed socket.
- 2). Decide which input best fits your needs. If you have a high input signal from active electronics on your guitar and want to play classical-style, you would probably want to reduce distortion and go with the low input. However, perhaps you want a really crunchy sound. This requires distortion, so plug the guitar into the high input. Another thing to consider is whether you want to use the amplifier's distortion or a distortion effect. Distortion effects are modifications made to the guitar signal before reaching the amplifier. If you already have the distortion sound you need, plug into the low input so your amplifier won't add any distortion sound of its own.
- 3). Turn on the guitar amp. Always turn on the amp only after plugging in the guitar. Play some music and see if the guitar tone is to your liking. You can play with volume, tone and distortion levels until you get the sound you like.
