- 1). Lift the hood of your vehicle and use a socket wrench to disconnect the battery´s negative terminal cable to prevent any electrical circuits from being completed while you undertake the installation.
- 2). Remove the door paneling from the inside of the door. Locate all of the small plastic coverings along the perimeter of the door and around the armrest. These hide the screws that secure the door paneling to the door frame. Use a screwdriver to pry them off, exposing the door paneling screws. Use the screwdriver to remove all the screws around the door and the armrest as well. Pull the paneling away from the door frame and set it aside.
- 3). Locate the mounting bolts along the perimeter of the door handle. Use a socket wrench to remove these bolts and pull the door handle away from the door frame. Disconnect the electrical wiring that is connected to the back of the door handle. Mark these wires for easier re-attachment to the new door handle. Set the old door handle aside.
- 4). Install the electrical wiring to the back of the new door handle and place it in the same position as the old handle. Secure the door handle to the door frame by reattaching the mounting bolts around the base of the handle.
- 5). Reattach the door paneling to the door frame by reinstalling the screws around the edge. Reattach the armrest. Replace the small plastic coverings over the screws. Push the coverings over the screw heads until they snap into place.
- 6). Reconnect the cable to the battery´s negative terminal and close the hood of the vehicle.
