How to Bait Catfish With Strawberry Banana JELL-O
- 1). Pour the powdered Jell-O mix into a resealable plastic bag.
- 2). Cut the hot dogs or chicken livers into the desired size for bait chunks, then add the pieces to the plastic bag. The spongy texture of the hot dogs and chicken livers helps absorb the Jell-O.
- 3). Add a small amount of water to the bag so the Jell-O forms a syrupy marinade. Shake the bag and refrigerate overnight or until ready to go fishing.
- 4). Thread the end of the fishing line through the loop in the sinker weight, then tie on a hook. One ounce of weight should be sufficient to hold the kook on the bottom. Add more weight, perhaps an additional 1-oz. sinker, when fishing in fast-moving stretches of river so the hook will stay put on the bottom.
- 5). Pierce the barb of the hook with two or three chunks of the Jell-O-marinated bait so that the barb of the hook is buried in at least one of the chunks.
- 6). Cast the line and allow the bait to sink to the bottom. The scent of the Jell-O and some of the food coloring additive in the product will slowly release into the water to attract catfish.
