How to Make an Egyptian Pharaoh's Crown
- 1). Measure the aspiring pharaoh with measuring tape, from the outer edge of his shoulder to the base of his neck.
- 2). Take a measurement from the base of his neck to the top, center of his head. If you execute the measurement correctly, the tape should resemble a candy cane shape. Add the two measurements together. Double the sum to find your headdress measurement.
- 3). Cut a circle out of shiny, striped fabric. Use the headdress measurement to determine the diameter, or width, of the circle. Cut the fabric with large, sharp craft scissors to minimize fraying.
- 4). Dab fabric sealant adhesive around the edge of the fabric circle to prevent fraying. Allow the adhesive to dry for 10 minutes.
- 5). Lay newspaper to cover your work surface. Lay a flexible, toy cobra on the newspaper. The cobra should be 3 to 6 inches longer than the circumference of the wearer's head, depending on how high you want the cobra's head to extend.
- 6). Spray the cobra with metallic gold spray paint. Apply two coats of paint, if necessary, to cover the entire snake adequately. Allow the paint to dry for 30 minutes between coats.
- 7). Apply a 1-inch line of hot glue to the end of the cobra's tail. Pull the tail toward the head of the snake until the body forms a circle that matches your pharaoh's head circumference. Press the glued tail to the body to secure the circle. The cobra's head should point up from the secured coil.
- 8). Lay the fabric circle face-side down. Fold the circle in half.
- 9). Lay the folded fabric on the pharaoh's head. Position the straight edge of the fabric on or near his hairline. Slide the coiled snake crown over the to secure the headdress.
