How to Stop a Serpentine Belt From Squealing

104 6
    • 1). Open the hood, start the engine and shine the flashlight on the serpentine belt to locate an area where you can spray the ribbed side easily.

    • 2). Spray the WD-40 (which stands for “water displacement formula #40”) on the ribbed side of the belt in a short, quick burst. Make sure your face is not in a direct line with the belt, as the WD-40 will eject from the belt, potentially getting in your eyes or on your clothes.

    • 3). Repeat step two until the squeal sound stops. Wait one minute and then spray the belt dressing on the belt in the same manner.
