How to Pick Blueberries in Delaware
- 1). Choose a pick-your-own blueberry farm to visit. Lists of farms are located on the Internet, such as PickYourOwn.org, and in local advertising.
- 2). Examine the blueberry bushes for ripe fruit. Ripe blueberries are a blue-gray color with no white or green color on the fruit. Unripe fruit will not ripen after picking. Blueberries that are turning red or purple will ripen after picking.
- 3). Pull the ripe blueberries from the bush gently singly or in bunches. To remove a cluster of blueberries, hold the bunch in your hand and gently roll the fruit with your fingers. Ripe fruit falls off the bush and into your hands. Place the ripe fruit in your bucket. Fruit that is not ripe will not easily fall off the bush.
