DIY Caulking Masonry
- 1). Set up a ladder on a stable area and use it to inspect the brick and mortar for cracks.
- 2). Use a wire brush to remove any loose mortar around cracks.
- 3). Apply masking tape on each side of the crack, leaving only the width of the crack between the two strips of tape.
- 4). Place the caulk into the caulking gun and cut the end of the plastic caulk tube nozzle at a 45-degree angle.
- 5). Insert the clothes hanger wire into the tube nozzle, puncturing the tube seal.
- 6). Fill the crack to the surface of the brick with the caulk.
- 7). Use a damp rag to smooth off excess caulk and remove the masking tape. Allow the caulk to cure for at least 24 hours.
