Types of Insecticides
- This is a natural insecticide made by the powdery fossils of diatoms. It cuts into the exoskeletons of insects and kills them by dehydrating them. Spread it around problem areas in your yard.
- Boric is an inorganic insecticide that has a low level of toxicity. To pests such as roaches and ants it acts like a fungicide that is poisonous to them. Do not use this around pets, because it can be harmful to them if it is ingested.
- Fumigants are powerful gases used as an indoor insecticide. These are very dangerous to humans as well and are only used by qualified pest controllers.
- Biopesticides are generally natural, organic and non-toxic insecticides. They are made from various plant parts, bacteria and animal materials that can directly affect and poison insects.
- Garlic is a great natural insecticide and garlic spray has been a popular insecticide that can be made at home. Just soak some garlic in oil for about 24 hours and then add water in a 1:6 ratio (more water than garlic).
