As each and everyone is biologically different, every individual therefore experience different forms of reaction or symptoms.
The most common of all anxiety attacks symptoms is the increase pounding of heartbeats which causes many first timers to think that they are experiencing a heart attack.
It is important to note that 'symptoms' is an acronym used to describe the effects of an illness.
Anxiety is nothing more than a behavioral condition that is set at an extreme level of response.
Remember, though it produces scary sensations, It is NOT an illness...
Medically theorized, anxiety is a reaction caused by an organ called Amygdala which controls autonomic responses associated with fear.
When one senses danger, this organ reacts and functioned in mobilizing a person to move away or avoid apparent threats.
However, this organ can be conditioned and set to react at an extreme level in the event whereby the brain had been exposed to long term stress or trauma.
Note that true FEAR can only be present when faced with something that is physically there to be afraid of.
For example; life threatening danger, robbery, war, natural disaster etc.
If one is experiencing anxiety attacks symptoms when there is nothing there to be afraid of...
one is just experiencing the sensations of fear but NOT true fear! In other words, during an attack, it is the feelings and thoughts of something that is virtually there but is in fact not.
These feelings are just a malfunction of an appropriate response and nothing more.
There are a few different types of anxiety but the most basic that causes one to experience the anxiety attack symptoms are Post Traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD) and Panic disorder.
The first type is caused by the overstimulation of the anxiety and is experienced in a form of "crisis".
When something extremely bad happens to or around a person, he or she may have difficulty recovering.
PTSD can cause a person to experience flashbacks of the event.
This disorder can occur immediately or may even take months or years to develop.
The second type is like a hedge to the first type.
In this type, the ego determines the coping mechanisms available and chooses the best response given its capacity from both the external and internal factors.
One of the most effective ways to treat anxiety and panic attacks is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
This therapy focuses on the thinking patterns and behaviors that are the triggers of the anxiety attacks.
It helps you look at your fears in a more realistic light.
Another way is called Exposure Therapy.
In this therapy, you are being exposed to the physical sensations of panic but in a safe, controlled environment.
This allows you the opportunity to learn healthier ways of coping with the attacks.
Overtime, you will get the feel of a greater sense of control over your panic and become less afraid of these attacks symptoms.
