How to Identify an Intel Processor

    • 1). Download and install the Intel Processor Identification Utility using the link in Resources. Launch the utility after it is installed.

    • 2). Read the license agreement for the software, and click "Accept" if you agree to the terms. If you do not agree, the utility will close.

    • 3). Examine the value shown at the top of the screen to determine the type of Intel CPU in your computer. The full processor type and model number are shown, e.g. "Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T7200."

    • 4). Examine the value shown in the Expected column next to Speed to determine the correct speed of your processor. If the reported speed of your processor is higher than the expected speed, your processor is overclocked. If you did not knowingly purchase a computer with an overclocked processor, contact the manufacturer.
