How to Get Rid of Bed Bugs With Boric Acid Powder

104 1
    • 1). Sprinkle boric acid powder around the furniture that has been infested with bed bugs. Since most bed bugs will not ingest the boric acid, it will not be a direct killer. Boric acid will prevent the bed bugs from migrating any further in your house.

    • 2). Remove all blankets, sheets and clothing from the infested area and place them in the dryer for 20 to 30 minutes. Bed bugs have a low tolerance for heat and will be killed when exposed to too much heat. Shake the fabric outside after it finishes in the dryer and wash it.

    • 3). Use a small steam cleaner on your furniture to kill a bed bug infestation that has not reached more than an inch into the furniture. The heat from a steam cleaner will completely decimate the bed bugs.

    • 4). Hire a professional exterminator if the furniture infestation has reached further than an inch into the furniture or if the steam cleaner does not kill all the bed bugs. Removing a deeper infestation of bed bugs will be completely unmanageable for you to handle.

    • 5). Continue to sprinkle the boric acid once every two days to prevent the bed bugs from migrating until the exterminator arrives.
