College Halloween Costumes for 2012
Anyone from the 2012 Summer Olympics. The Olympics were dominating the air waves earlier in the summer; surely there was a star athlete that you can dress up as! Think back to what you enjoyed watching the most, who really rose to the top in terms of performance, or even who people compared your looks to. With so many Olympians, there's bound to be a match for you somewhere in the mix.
Any celebrity who won an award during the year. If you're into music, think Grammys; if you're into film and acting, thing Oscars. Either way, think about the award shows that have taken place during 2012 and find someone who you'd love to dress up as (or mock). And then ... have at it! Award trophy as an accessory optional.
Your roommate. This one can always be a little tricky, as you'll want to remain respectful, but going as your college roommate can be a fun way to celebrate a college Halloween. You have access to their clothes (which should only be taken with permission, of course) and know their mannerisms better than anyone.
Even better: Both of you going as each other.
Honey Boo Boo. You may love her, you may hate her, or you may love to hate her, but Honey Boo Boo is all the rage this year. Whether you dress up like her or like someone from her wacky family, a Honey Boo Boo-themed costume is sure to be a hit.
Anyone from People's website.People magazine is always on the ball with the latest and greatest celebrity news. If you want to dress up as someone recently in the headlines, heading to People's website or current magazine issue is a great place to start.
Carly Rae Jepsen. Oh, just admit it -- that song has been stuck in your head more than once. Which means it's been stuck in everyone else's head, too. Which means that dressing up as Jepsen can be a great costume idea that will definitely lead to a few laughs at whatever party you're attending. Great costume idea, maybe?
A grown-up child star. Britney, Lindsay, Miley ... even Drew Barrymore. With so many grown-up child stars to choose from, it's more a question of who you want to be instead of who you can be. Added bonus: You can imitate your choice during their glory days or, in most cases, during a phase in their life that was less than admirable.
Any character from a 2012 blockbuster movie. If you loved 2012's movies, like The Hunger Games, The Avengers, The Dark Knight, or even Snow White and the Huntsman, consider dressing as your favorite character from the film. It will be popular, and it will be recent enough in everyone's minds that they'll know who you're supposed to be.
Steampunk anything. Steampunk seems to be taking the country by storm, so why not capitalize on this latest trend and build yourself a crazy fun costume? With so much creative freedom, you can choose a character from a steampunk-infused movie or novel or even build a costume yourself.
A politician. Given the 2012 presidential election, political figures seem to be front and center everywhere you turn. Use those images for inspiration and dress up -- either respectfully or satirically -- as a major political player.
Any of Sacha Baron Cohen's characters. Whether it's Ali G, Borat, Bruno, or Admiral General Aladeen, Sacha Baron Cohen has given so very, very much to his audiences. The costumes his characters wear can easily be found online, too, making them one of the easiest-to-create and most-fun costumes for nearly any student.
Deadmau5. With that instantly recognizable "mau5head," dressing up as musician Deadmau5 can be easier than you might think. You can wear your normal clothes and focus on creating a large -- but easily made -- mousehead. Everyone will recognize you while you have a costume that's current, fun, and original.
Anyone who passed away in 2012. From Whitney Houston to Neil Armstrong to Sally Ride, too many famous people passed away before their time. Think about someone famous who you'll miss and use Halloween as a time to honor the legacy they left behind.
