How to Remove a Stereo From a Acura RSX
- 1). Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. To do this, turn the retaining nut on the cable's clamp counterclockwise until the clamp is loose enough for you to pull the clamp off the battery terminal.
- 2). Place the rag over the tip of the screwdriver and wedge the screwdriver tip behind the bezel that surrounds the radio/CD player.
- 3). Pry the bezel out of place gently using the screwdriver. It should pop right off without much trouble.
- 4). Remove the screws holding the radio/CD player in place.
- 5). Pull the head unit (radio/CD player) out of the dash.
- 6). Unplug the electrical connectors on the back of the head unit. On the Acura RSX, these are plug-style connectors. To unplug these, you'll need to squeeze the top of the connector and pull it straight out of the head unit.
- 7). Pry the driver and passenger side door panel off using the door panel removal tool.
- 8). Push down on the retaining clip on the top of the Acura's front speaker. The speaker top will come loose and you will be able to pull the entire unit out.
- 9). Unplug the electrical connection from the back of the speaker. This is the same type of connector that is used on the head unit.
- 10
Place a rag over the tip of the screwdriver and pry the rear speaker covers off using the tab on the bezel surrounding the speaker. - 11
Unscrew the retaining screws that hold the rear speakers in place and pull them out of the speaker housing. - 12
Unplug the electrical connections (these are the same type of connections as the front speakers and head unit).
