- For the fastest ride, drive in wide, open spaces with the accelerator depressed and the brakes inactive. Yamaha set the Rhino 700 engine to have a maximum speed of approximately 40 mph. This should prove adequate for typical riding. However, if you are driving in wide open spaces and wish to move as quickly as possible, 40 mph may not be fast enough. Aftermarket options can help you upgrade your maximum speed to around 50 or 60 mph.
- The Rhino 700 has two doors, one on the passenger side and another on the driver's side. Using these doors will help protect your feet and prevent dirt and water from entering the ATV. Some Rhino 700 models ship without doors, depending on the dealer and factory. To receive free doors, contact your local Yamaha dealer.
- Place both hands on the wheel, especially if you are driving at a speed of over 20 mph. If possible, grip the wheel so that your thumbs face upward. Always veer to the right, especially if you are driving on a path that is wide or designed for a two-way ride. Drive at the lowest speed possible, especially if you are unfamiliar with the terrain. If you are driving in dim or dark conditions, turn your headlights on. As with driving an automobile, do not turn your headlights on in foggy conditions.
- If you are a passenger in the Rhino, communicate with your driver. Let the driver know if you notice strange conditions or feel unsafe. Hold on to the rails on the side of the Yamaha Rhino while traveling over rocky terrain or during other rough driving.
- Keep your Yamaha Rhino 700 in tip-top shape with routine maintenance. Change the oil and clean the air filter regularly. The air filter is a foam filter that should be washed in warm, soapy water and then covered with filter oil before being reinstalled in the ATV. The dustier your riding conditions, the more frequently you must clean your filter.
