Underground Water Tank Systems

101 15
In these days when water supplies are at a premium, it makes a great deal of sense to use water tanks to harvest the rain and water run-off from nature. The trouble is that many back yards are so small that there is really nowhere for a tank of any size to be situated. This is where underground water tanks will be most useful.

Additionally, many people do not like the look of a huge tank dominating their landscape, even if it does provide much needed water. For them an underground water tank will be the answer. There are several different types of underground water tanks so there is sure to be one suited to your site. But even though the tank will be well hidden, there still needs to be enough room to dig that hole and place the tank in it.

When buildings are already in place, the best situation for the underground tank is beside the house so that pipes from the roof can run almost straight into it. However, if this is not possible then the pipes can be taken underground so that they do not become an eyesore.

You just need to remember where they are so that any further work such as digging a garden or putting in a pathway will not ruin them. When the building is still in the planning stage it is often possible to incorporate the underground tank under the house or decking or even under the driveway or garden.

When planning an artificial pond you may need to look into getting a pond liner to ensure water does not seep out. A layer of sand or old carpet underneath the pond liner will help to protect it from punctures due to sharp rocks or tree roots. Once your pond is established you can either surround it with a garden or use artificial grass as a surround for ease of access and maintenance. Make sure all safety requirements are adhered to.
