How to Hunt for Mushrooms
- 1). Find someone who knows about mushrooms. Ask your friends, your relatives, and maybe even your co-workers. If you can, find a mushroom hunting club. If you have someone who knows what he or she is doing, it will make things a lot easier.
- 2). Find the perfect place to mushroom hunt. I recommend local public woods. Better yet, if you have a friend with a private woods, ask him or her for permission.
- 3). Do lots of research on local mushrooms. Find an online guide or a book about mushrooms. Some mushrooms would look harmless but they would really be poisonous.
- 4). Wait until after a rainstorm and go out hunting. Mushrooms sprout up after rain. Make sure that there won't be any more rain during your mushroom hunting day.
- 5). When you hunt for mushrooms, get a stick. Get a nice sturdy stick that you could either bring with you or pick one up in the woods. A stick is great for lifting leaves to see mushrooms or to steady one self up and down a hill. Never underestimate the power of the stick.
- 6). Mushrooms come in groups. If you see one mushroom, there's another one close by. So, keep an eye out for mushrooms.
- 7). Enjoy the mushrooms you find. You can fry them. Put them in noodles. There are all sorts you can do with wild mushrooms.
