Breaking Into Missions - A Simple Guide to Fundraising

103 2
If you have ever thought about going on a missions trip, then you know how expensive it can be.
I recently heard of a three week trip to Israel that will cost around $4800.
This can be intimidating! The good news is that people really do want to give, but they don't always know where to give.
I know people that have been missionaries nearly all of their lives and have a multitude of financial supporters.
Some call it living by faith, but there is a lot of wisdom that can go into fundraising efforts.
Never let money get in the way of going to serve somewhere in missions.
If you desire to go on a missions trip, here are some fundraising tips to follow: 1.
Before you do anything, be sure to pray.
Make sure that this is really something God has in store for you during this season of your life.
2.
Tell your family, friends, and church about what you are planning to do.
Get them involved from early on.
Be able to clearly express why you want to go on this trip and what you will be doing.
3.
Write a support letter.
Be sure to include the name of the organization that you will be joining, the duration of your trip, what types of activities you will be involved in, and how much financial support you need to raise.
This will help give you credibility and serve as a visual reminder to those around you that you are in need of raising support.
Don't be shy; send your letter to everyone you know.
4.
Get excited! Those around you cannot help but be supportive when they see how passionate you are.
5.
Keep track of who sends financial support and how much they give.
Send thank you letters with a personal note.
This is, after all, a personal journey that you are about to embark on.
Even after your financial support has been raised, keep people involved in your mission.
Create lasting relationships and life-long partners because people really are interested in donating to good causes.
