      According to the National Sleep Foundation, women are more likely to experience sleep problems than men. Working mothers, singles mothers and stay at home mothers all fairing the worst. Good mood and good health are directly related to good sleep, so lack of sleep may be something you should lose sleep about.

    Stress

    • The number one obstacle is a good night's sleep appears to be stress.

    Depression

    • Hormonal fluctuations make women more susceptible to depression than men. NYC Psychotherapist Colette Dowling found that not being able to fall asleep when you first go to bed sleep can be linked to stress and anxiety, regularly waking at 4 am can also be a sign of depression. Another form of a sleep disorder is hypersomnia, the need for more sleep than normal. Antidepressants and or therapy can greatly ease the problems associated with insomnia and hypersomnia brought on by depression.
