What Are PAR30 Floodlights?

104 1

    Types of PAR30 Floodlights

    • PAR30 floodlights come in long and short neck options, which refers to the length of the area above the base. You can also buy PAR30 lights in a wide version, which has a wider beam angle than the traditional flood angle. The light source inside the bulb may be incandescent, halogen, high-intensity discharge, fluorescent or light-emitting diode.

    PAR30 Floodlight Uses

    • The lights can be used indoors in track lighting and recessed can lighting. They can also be used outdoors, but only if they are housed in weatherpoofed casing.

Energy Efficiency and Longevity of PAR30 Floodlights

    • Incandescent PAR30 floodlights are the least expensive, and this technology has been around for more than 100 years, but starting in 2012, the U.S. Energy and Independence Act of 2007 bans certain types of incandescent lights. Halogen PAR30 floodlights are brighter, longer lasting and more energy efficient than incadescents. Fluorescent versions of this light are even more energy efficient and longer lasting, as are the various types of high intensity discharge lights. Light emitting diode PAR30 floodlights, though significantly more expensive, are usually the longest lasting and most efficient of them all, if you buy a quality brand.
