How to Grind Old Grout From a Concrete Floor
- 1). Pick any loose pieces of broken grout out from between the concrete slabs with the pick or a flat-head screwdriver. If you can pull the grout out, it is easier than grinding it away.
- 2). Secure a masonry grinding wheel to your angle grinder. This process will vary depending on the brand of grinder you own. However, in most cases, you use a spanner wrench supplied with the grinder to loosen the retaining nut on the bottom side of the grinding wheel, pull the old wheel off, slide the new wheel on and the tighten the nut with the spanner wrench.
- 3). Place the grinder on its side, pull the trigger and place the edge of the grinding wheel against the concrete grout. Hold the wheel vertical to the grout to prevent cutting into the concrete.
- 4). Slide the wheel from left to right as you cut. This will throw the grout dust to your left. Wear gloves and eye protection to avid being hit by hot grout.
