How to Uninstall a General Electric Dishwasher
- 1). Turn off the water supply line to the dishwasher at the shut-off valve, which typically is located in the cabinet beneath the kitchen sink. This water line may have its own in-line valve or be connected directly by flexible plastic line to the kitchen sink's water valve.
- 2). Disconnect the dishwasher's air gap hose, and disposal or drain line connections using a screwdriver to loosen the hose clamps securing both. The disposal or drain line connection hose is a heavier-duty hose, while the air gap hose typically is a thinner, flexible line. Place a small bucket or container beneath the drain hose to catch any water that may be left in the line.
- 3). Unplug the dishwasher's power cord from the wall outlet beneath the kitchen sink.
- 4). Open the dishwasher door, then remove the bracket screws securing the top of the dishwasher body to the underside of the countertop.
- 5). Detach the dishwasher's toekick plate by removing the screws at each side.
- 6). Disconnect the dishwasher's water line at the connection accessed through the toekick opening using an adjustable wrench.
- 7). Slide the dishwasher out of the cabinet opening, slowly feeding the power cord, air gap hose and drain line hose through the holes in the kitchen sink cabinet.
