    Common-Sense Prevention

    • Carry herbal antibacterial hand soap with you at all times. Whenever you come out of a doctor's office, hospital, nursing home, church, grocery store, drug store--any public place--use your hand soap. After a meeting when you've had human contact, always wash your hands either with the hand soap or with hot water and soap. Many people don't wash their hands correctly, particularly in a public restroom. Turn on the hot water faucet and let it flow until hot water comes out of the faucet. Wet your hands and apply soap. Hum "Happy Birthday" twice before rinsing your hands. Before turning off the faucet, grab a paper towel and wrap it around your hand. Using the paper towel as a buffer, turn off the faucet with your knuckle. Wipe your hands and use the paper towel to open the door to exit. Take the towel with you and dispose of it at your table or in your car.

    Compresses

    • Compresses are usually white unbleached cloth, but any sterile material, like gauze, can be used. The compress holds a material directly onto the wound or rash for a period of time. You should have one cloth (it could even be an inexpensive washcloth that can be discarded) soaking in hot water while you prepare the compress. Compresses should be applied three times a day.

Tea tree oil is a natural antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral substance that works extremely well against staph. Soak a gauze pad in tea tree oil and place it directly onto the affected skin. Wring out the cloth that was soaking in hot water and place it over the pad with tea tree oil. Rewet and replace the hot cloth every 10 minutes. Continue for a total of 30 minutes. Discard the pad and cloth and wash the dish out with boiling water.

In this manner, you can use sliced cloves of garlic or a mix of honey and vinegar, mixed 50/50.

    Fighting from the Inside

    • Keep yourself healthy so that your natural defenses are strong. Get adequate rest (you may find that you need more rest when affected), stay hydrated, eat nutritious foods, take a multi-vitamin and a good probiotic. Probiotics help boost your immune system, which is your first defense against invading germs.

    Keeping It to Yourself

    • Be extremely careful not to spread your bad fortune. Wash your hands frequently and correctly. Do not share personal items, such as razors. Wash your clothing, bedding and linens in hot water with detergent and bleach. Stay home instead of attending public functions and going to public places.
