A Different Point of View in Kanchanaburi

When visiting Thailand, getting out of Bangkok after only a few days in the buzzing city seems preferable, though it may be difficult to choose your next location.
Thailand stretches a discernible difference between North and South with a wide variety of environs to see and activities to do.
Those looking for sand, sun and parties will most certainly head south to the famous Thai beaches.
Those looking for an extravagant trek through the dangerous jungle swimming and playing with elephants and snakes will most certainly head to Chiang Mai, Thailand's Rose of the North.
Another option for those looking to travel to less known, but extremely rich location should consider purchasing a bus ticket to Kanchanaburi.
Kanchanaburi is not located far from Bangkok and is especially appealing to those on a budget as its small town atmosphere and helps t keep costs low as well as provide travelers with a more authentic, less manufactured Thailand experience.
One of the highest rated places for travelers to stay is Apple's Guest House.
Located on Soi 52, this homely guesthouse and attached restaurant is a great place to stay for people of all ages.
It is especially popular amongst backpackers as a place to meet new people and pick up some travel companions along the way.
There are a number of other cheap Kanchanaburi hotels along the same road, but Apple's is unique and most famous for its outstanding food.
The green and red curries are a menu favourite here and it is the only place in town where you have to make reservation, or simply wait your turn for a seat or a room.
Apple's Guest House is also famous for another reason being that its Thai cooking course is one of the best in town.
Apple herself, whose name can only truly be understood once meeting 'her', is a vibrant, enthusiastic individual whose cooking and English skills will make your class as well as your holiday a pleasing and memorable experience.
The course begins first thing in the morning when the markets are buzzing.
Students will head to the main and largest market located in the center of town where they will learn about specific Thai herbs that make the country's cooking so unique.
It may also be wise to take a camera as there are a number of visually stunning items, and smells, like none you have never seen.
It makes you wonder what it is that you are actually eating when you have some sort stir-fry dish in this region as the Thai people are known for not wasting a thing.
Even for those that do not enjoy cooking and have no planes o make Thai dishes when returning home, would probably enjoy the very affordable course simply for the authenticity of the local people and places not often seen on a typical day tour or holiday path.
The course also offers a great way to meet new people as students are paired up to help each other complete the tricky recipes being prepared for the afternoon lunch.
After your day of cooking is complete, head to one of the local pubs along the same road aligned next to jungle, scenic guesthouses with the friends you've met for the day.
Evenings are a bit quieter in Kanchanaburi unless you head away from the foreign, or farang, guesthouse hub and join the locals in the city square.
Apple's is a not a short distance from the city center, but motorcycle taxis are readily and cheaply available often wearing on the side of the road wearing a bright orange vest.
