    Automotives

    • LED lights are currently being used for automotive lighting. This includes interior lighting, instrument panel lighting, turn signals, brake lights and warning lights. LED lights can also be used for headlights, although this application is uncommon. A desirable quality of LED lights is that the color of the emitted light can be altered, which means that a car with LED lights can be customized. Customization, however, may not be legal in all areas.

    Street Lights

    • Sodium-discharge lamps are the more common form of general public lighting, but reducing energy costs is always an appealing proposition, which means that LED lighting is being used for street lights. LED-based street lights are more energy-efficient than sodium lamps and last longer, with sodium lamps needing replacement every 3 to 4 years. These lights can mimic the shapes of traditional street lamps, as well, and are also useful for other forms of outdoor or public lighting, like flood lights.

    Grow Lights

    • LED lighting is used for growing plants indoors. LED lights have a number of properties that make them appealing for this. They are low voltage, which helps reduce risk of shock, since plants require a water supply. They emit low amounts of heat, which reduces risk of damage to both plants and the people who tend them, and are lightweight and durable, which makes installation and maintenance easy. Their ability to emit different colors of light is particularly appealing, as plants do not use the entire visible spectrum.

    Home Lighting

    • LED lights are made to fit into many standard light sockets designed for home use. These lights are capable of replacing incandescent, halogen and compact fluorescent bulbs, and can be found in the same colors as other types of lighting. They can be used for general lighting or lamps as well as for track lighting and nightlights. They are also useful for decorative lighting outside the house, such as garden or architectural lighting. Many LED lights for the outdoors are also solar-powered.
