Above Ground Pool Heaters - Three Options

103 11
When the mercury is just about to pop the top off your thermometer, you'll find the water in your above ground pool refreshing.
But what happens when the skies are slightly overcast or the swimming season is entering its final days? In order to keep things comfortable when you're not in the middle of a heat wave, you'll want to consider adding one of the many above ground pool heaters currently available.
Most above ground pool heaters fall into one of three categories.
Let's look at your options.
Doing so may give you a better idea of the kind of heater that will best meet your needs.
Gas heaters.
You can keep your pool warmer with natural gas- or propane-based above ground pool heaters.
These are usually among the most powerful options, but their expense can be justified by their performance.
They are one of the best ways to maximize pool comfort and they boast tremendous longevity and efficiency.
People do complain about the high price of natural gas and propane, but these pool heaters are so efficient, you will not really need to worry much about your actual fuel costs.
It does not cost that much to operate them after you make your purchase.
Solar heaters.
You can harness the power of the sun to warm your pool.
Solar above ground pool heaters are extremely popular because they are inexpensive and easy to use.
A solar panel-based heater system can do a good job in climates that do not get too cold during the swimming season and can be used in conjunction with other heater options, if you so desire.
You can also use solar devices like pool covers or floating warming devices as part of an overall solar approach.
If you are looking for an environmentally conscious way to keep your pool nice when the temperatures drop, solar heaters and accessories may be ideal.
Heat pumps.
And you thought heat pumps were just for home and commercial HVAC systems.
That is not the case.
You can use the same technology that maintains temperatures inside your home outside with your pool.
These units can be rather expensive, but they do offer a high level of performance.
They are powerful enough to keep your pool comfortable even in rather chilly conditions, too.
If you are living a little to the north and would like to extend your swimming season, these may be the above ground pool heaters for you.
Swimming pools aren't much fun when you're shivering.
You may want to make an effort to increase temperature of your pool's water with a heater.
You can choose between gas, solar or heat pump units to solve the chill in your pool.
