How to Deselect QuickTime
- 1). If you cannot see the QuickTime icon, expand the system tray on the computer's taskbar by clicking the small white arrow. When the QuickTime icon comes into view, right-click the icon and choose "QuickTime Preferences" from the list of options.
- 2). Switch to the "Advanced" tab in the "QuickTime Preferences" window. Look in the area labeled "Tray Icon" and click the box beside "Install QuickTime icon in system tray" to remove the check mark from the box. Click the "OK" button to exit.
- 3). Restart your computer. Though the QuickTime icon disappears from the system tray immediately after you change the setting, you won't know for sure that the change has taken effect until you restart the computer.
- 4). Click the white arrow at the left of the system tray to expand the section and show all the icons. The QuickTime icon should no longer appear in the system tray.
