p38 MAP Kinase Inhibition in Cardiovascular Disease

Pre-clinical Studies

A number of preclinical models, including tissue and whole animal, have been used to examine the effects of p38 MAPK inhibition (pharmacological and genetic) in cardiovascular pathology. The outcomes of these studies have provided the basis for translating encouraging findings of p38 MAPK inhibitors in pre-clinical models of cardiovascular disease into subsequent phase I/II clinical trials. Relevant pre-clinical studies are therefore summarized in Table 1 .
