If you are a keen traveller there are certain things that you always bring with you wherever you go.
Not just a toothbrush and your underwear, but also things the man in the street might not think to take on holiday.
Here are a few items which might just prove invaluable when you are travelling the world - no matter your destination: A large scarf or bandanna: Whether you use it to keep off the heat or the flies, or cover your nose with it to prevent frost bite or keep out bad smells; whether you cover your eyes to prevent snow blindness or to keep sand out of them; whether you use it to keep your hair out of your eyes, as a handkerchief or to lay your head on, a headscarf or bandanna can be the most useful item ever.
They can even be used as towels as they dry quickly.
String: String can be a useful item to have about your person.
It can mend broken shoelaces or straps, you can use it to hold closed a dodgy door lock, or keep a window open.
If there are insects, it can be used to fasten nets securely.
String can also be used to keep your wallet firmly attached to your person, to prevent casual loss.
You can also use string to make a washing line to dry your clothes, wherever you happen to find yourself.
Duct Tape: Duct tape can also be a very useful item, especially in the case of breakages or damage.
Duct tape can be used to repair damaged luggage or as a temporary solution to leaky shoes.
It can be used as a makeshift plug in a sink so you can do your washing, or to secure gaping blackout blinds.
In an emergency, duct tape can also be used to remove splinters, to secure splints, or, with the addition of some clean tissue or cotton, to make a sticking plaster.
Travel Mug: Whether in an airport, or on the go, it can be very handy to bring a travel mug with you.
You can drink from something clean in dirty environments, use it to scoop water to wash your hair with when you find yourself far from a shower, and, since it has a lid, you can use it to store things it, be it shells on a beach, mementoes, money from busking even if that is your thing.
For those who plan to spend a lot of time in the wilderness or in undeveloped countries, consider investing in a mug or bottle which has a water filter built in.
Wet Wipes: These are not just for babies.
Wet wipes are handy for oh so many different uses as you travel around the world and anti-bacterial wipes could just prevent you from getting a nasty bug that could ruin your adventures.
They can clean, cool you down, or sanitise eating utensils.
All in all, they are a very useful thing to bring.
