Lady Gaga Tracking
Lady Gaga is the next rock/pop/electro superstar-or maybe she is the first. Mix one part Blondie with one part Madonna. Swirl it in a bath of the Scissor Sisters and Junior Senior, throw in some glitch and sprinkle with glitter and you come close the recipe. Winter Music Conference was her launching pad and the industry took note of her. Until then, watch for her music video "Just Dance" and live performances as she tours the US.
Forget Britney Spears and Whitney Houston-Lady Gaga blew away memories of lacklustre pop megastars as she kicked off her Australian tour in Sydney last night. The eccentric pop star left fans gagging for more after an extravagant opening performance at the Sydney Entertainment Centre."She was bloody amazing", Victoria White, who was at the concert, told ninemsn.
"It thought it was incredibly complex. It was a real mash up of popular culture-at one point she was doing Michael Jackson moves and there were references to Madonna and Kylie Minogue."
Gaga fan Elise Vout agreed that the concert lived up to expectations.
"I wanted to see her because of her reputation as an entertainer and she was just absolutely amazing. She is not like Britney Spears, she is no cut-out pop performer, she's the genuine article," Ms Vout said.
The "Monster Ball" is a four-part concept show where Gaga takes her audience along on a quest to get to the ultimate party.
Set against elaborate stage props, including a burning piano and broken down car, Gaga performed her massive hits amidst a whirlwind of 16 costume changes.
The pop star kept her audience hooked with a narrative to follow her journey and by yelling out bizarre statements such as, "I'm a little like Tinkerbell, clap for me, do you want me to die?" An emotional Gaga also burst into tears at one point as she thanked her fans.
"She was outrageously theatrical, she kept crying and saying, 'I love you people'. There were close-up shots of her face and you could see the tears streaming down her face," Ms White said from the concert.
I like lady gaga very much, not only for her wonderful show but also her kindness in doing philanthropy. Aside from recording music, Lady Gaga contributed to a number of charities and causes throughout her career. In the wake of the 2010 Haiti earthquake there were numerous celebrities working together for the cause of helping restore what had been destroyed, and also helping those left to survive. Gaga donated all of her proceeds from the January 24 show of her current tour, the Monster Ball (ticket sales, merchandise, etc.), and from her online store; the total amount donated was over $500,000. She has also been very proactive with raising awareness to young women about the risk of HIV/AIDS. Along with recording artist Cyndi Lauper, Gaga teamed up with MAC AIDS Fund's VIVA Glam campaign, which rose over $160 million to fight against AIDS and HIV, and bring awareness about the diseases to women around the world. All proceeds from a purchase of a VIVA Glam lip-gloss or lipstick go directly towards the fund to aid those infected with the disease. In a statement, Gaga said that, "We want women to feel strong and feel strong enough that they can remember to protect themselves. To have this lipstick as a reminder in your purse, that when your man is laying naked in bed, you go into the bathroom, you put your lipstick on and you bring a condom out with you. I really admire her contribution to the world, a person who never forget others when she is succeed. Guess I should learn from her thankfulness heart.
