Honda CL77 Specs

104 4

    Designed for Off-Road

    • The CL77 Scrambler 305 was a street bike designed for "some" off-road riding. It was distinguished as such from other Honda sport bikes by the CL designation instead of the CB for street-only motorcycles.

    High Revving Engine

    • The CL77 was noteworthy for its high-revving engine. The engine redlined at 9,000 rpm, much higher than the lower-revving American and European motorcycle engines of the mid-60s era.

    Loud Exhaust Sound

    • The CL77 featured a loud and distinctive exhaust sound, and many of these bikes were equipped with "snuff-or-nots," an adjustable flat metal piece that covered the end of the exhaust pipe to decrease or increase the exhaust sound during operation.

    Several Off-Road Modifications

    • To increase ground clearance for off-road riding, the CL77 featured larger 19-inch wheels. It also had coarse-tread universal tires, taller handlebars and shortened fenders.

    Dimensions

    • The Honda CL77 Scrambler was 79.1 inches long and 32.3 inches tall, and had a wheelbase of 52.4 inches. The weight of the CL77 was 352 pounds.

    Additional Features

    • The gas tank, fenders and exhaust pipe of the CL 77 were chrome, and the gas tank featured rubber knee pads on both sides of the tank.
