• The comfort level of a mattress depends on the quantity and quality of the soft layers surrounding the innerspring unit called the "upholstery" of the mattress. Insulation, cushioning, quilting and ticking make up the four upholstery layers. The quilting is the top layer inside the mattress that may provide additional padding, softness and comfort. Box Top

• Box top and pillow top are commonly used interchangeably when describing a specific type of mattress constructed with additional padding on the top mattress layer. This level of softness is added to a mattress, relieving pressure on the shoulders and hips and cradling and conforming to the contour of the body. The box top mattress will have the tendency to form depressions while sleeping, leaving your body signature on the mattress. A latex box top surrounded by wool diminishes the bodily imprints.
  
  

Euro Top

• Very similar to box top mattresses are the newer Euro top mattresses. Both types contain extra padding on top of the mattress, with the subtle difference in the construction process. The Euro top has edges that are more square with a smoother top, allowing more padding to be added on the top layer of the mattress, which results in added comfort, assisting in the reduction of body pressure points. Similar to box top mattresses, Euro top mattresses can compress over time and cannot be replaced.

• Euro top and box top mattresses are cushy, comfy and relatively new. Whether one of these mattress styles is right for you depends on your individual body type and existing medical conditions, such as back problems. Heavier body types may benefit from these padded mattress tops due to the extra cushioned comfort provided while lightweight people don't need the thick, cushioned-topped mattresses. No single mattress is right for everyone. A mattress that provides desired comfort, adequate support and a good night's sleep is your best choice.
