How to Mix the Oil Color Teal

104 9
    • 1). Place a bit of each of the blue, green and white oil colors on your palette. The amount will depend on how much you need. If you just want to get an idea of proportions before mixing a bigger batch, start amounts of each color equivalent to the amount of toothpaste you put on your toothbrush.

    • 2). Mix about a quarter of each of the three colors together, using the palette knife to scoop them up and mix them. Mix the colors until they are completely unbroken, that is, one solid color.

    • 3). Evaluate your color. If you approve of the color, you are done. More likely, you will want to tweak it, as the pigments used in oil colors all vary in strength. If the color is too deep, add white. If it leans a little too much to the blue or the green, add the other color. Add the paints a little at a time. You may need to lay out more white on your palette, as white is one of the weaker colorants.

    • 4). Continue mixing and testing until you achieve the teal that is satisfactory for your need.
