How to Work a Weed Eater Loading Line

104 1
    • 1). Disconnect the Weed Eater from its power source.

    • 2). Pull the tap button to disengage the line spool. The line spool contains the line loader that houses and feeds the line through the line feed hole.

    • 3). Remove all the chewed-up remnants of line from within the line loading cap, around the center spool and from under the line plate. The center spool consists of the center rod that you tie the line around, and the line plate consists of a circular, metal ring that holds the wound line into place.

    • 4). Thread 1/4 inch of line into the "catch notch." The catch notch consists of a notch in the spool, and it grips the tip of the line, holding it into place.

    • 5). Wind up to 30 feet of line no thicker than .065 inch around the spool in concentric rows until you have filled the line basin. The line basin simply consists of the part of the weed eater that holds the line, and it houses the spool and the line plate. Attempt to keep the line from unwinding, or you risk a tangle, which constricts the line and keeps it from feeding through the line hole.

    • 6). Thread 1/2 inch of line through the line feed hole with your thumb and index finger, while simultaneously holding the line in place around the spool with your pinky and snapping the line spool cap into place with the palm of your hand. This takes practice because you must do three actions at once or the line unrolls.

    • 7). Push the line spool cap into place until the tap button "pops" (locks) while also ensuring the line does not pull back into the line feed hole.

    • 8). Pull approximately 3 inches of line through the line feed hole or until it reaches the line guard.
