Parts That Help To Keep A Hot Tub Clean

An important part of hot tub maintenance involves keeping the water and the basin clean. This means using a cover, maintaining the right chemical balance and being aware of what goes into the basin. A poorly maintained spa could start to accumulate debris throughout the internal components that reduce the effectiveness of the unit and harbor bacteria. One way to help keep the unit as clean as possible is to replace or upgrade a few basic parts. Most manufacturers make modular parts that easily attach to the existing system. Three main components will help to keep the water clean over time and extend the life of other parts.

Filters
The filter in a spa provides a physical barrier that captures dirt and debris particles. Some even help to reduce the development of bacteria or other organic matter through special chemical treatments. Many different styles of filters are available. Filters are one of the most popular hot tub replacement parts on the market. They come mainly as pleated cartridges. Reusable ceramic filters make it possible to clean the cylinder in a standard dishwasher. The filters require regular cleaning or replacement. This can occur as frequently as once a month. A new and clean filter will greatly improve the quality of the water in the hot tub.

Ozonators
Ozonators generate a special gas called ozone. Ozone in the water of a spa causes a number of normally problematic contaminants to oxidize and disappear. Some of these substances include soap, lotions and bacteria. The large majority of hot tubs come with a system that is able to accept an ozonator. Ozonators are one of the simpler hot tub parts to install because they just plug into the existing plumbing. Using an ozonator will reduce the amount of chemicals needed in the water. They also help to destroy the smallest particles that could accumulate on the walls of the basin over time.

Circulation Pump
The circulation pump is an important component that helps to keep the water clean. The pump drives the water through the filter and any other systems. It is sometimes helpful to upgrade the pump when the hot tub sees use on a daily basis. Upgrading the pump means finding one that has a slightly higher horsepower although going too high could cause problems. Distributors of spa pumps usually have upgrades available. Increasing the power of hot tub pumps means water moves through the filter and ozonator more quickly. This keeps debris and bacteria to a minimum at all times.
