Handmade Gifts

• Whether you make a handmade piece of jewelry, a jewelry box or even a birthday cake, think about what your mom means to you and incorporate that into the gift. Think about her likes, tastes and favorite colors as you create a birthday gift for her. Go to a craft store and choose her favorite color beads or crystals and make her a bracelet. Buy a box at a craft store and decorate it in a way that she would like with photos or her favorite things, and give it to her as a jewelry or keepsake box. Bake her favorite cake or dessert, either from scratch or using a box mix. Make her a book of tickets, including things that you will do for her that she can use when she chooses, such as making dinner one night, cleaning the house another day, and painting her nails.
  
  

Handmade Cards

• Moms love to be appreciated, especially when you tell them in your own words. Make your mom a birthday card with card stock and scrapbooking supplies. Write her a message inside, whether it is in the form of a poem or a letter, expressing your love and appreciation. Include favorite photos of the two of you together on the card. Decorate it with scrapbook supplies, such as little sayings, tiny pictures, quotes and bows.
