If you are planning a King Kong-themed birthday party, there are several ideas from the movie to incorporate into your party. Be creative and think of famous scenes, locations and props, and make them a part of your original birthday party idea. - Tell the guests to dress up along with the theme. Possible ideas are dressing up as safari explorers, jungle people, city people or a gorilla or monkey of some kind. For the guests who show up without a costume, provide plastic binoculars, safari hats and gorilla masks. This encourages make-believe and allows the guests to enjoy the theme of the party. Give these props/costumes away as favors.

Serve a banana-flavored cake in shape of the empire state building. Put a gorilla or monkey cake topper on the cake. If you are having the cake custom-made, ask the baker to make a gorilla out of sugar paste or fondant. Serve party snacks like banana chips, tropical fruit punch and fruit salad to incorporate a jungle theme. Also, serve New York-style pizza in honor of the fact that, in the movie, King Kong climbed the empire state building in New York City. - Stuffed gorilla toygorilla image by Adrian Hillman from Fotolia.com
Have the guests give their best King Kong roar; make it a competition. Set up an obstacle course and race to see who can get the "damsel in distress" first and bring it back; use a doll as the damsel. Or play musical chairs to jungle-themed music. Give prizes to the winners, such as a stuffed gorilla toy or a copy of the movie.
