How to Burn Data to DVD on an iMac
- 1). Click inside a folder or on the desktop of your iMac.
- 2). Click "File" from the menu at the top of the iMac's screen, and then click "New Burn Folder." A new burn folder will appear inside the folder you clicked in or on the desktop.
- 3). Drag data files or folders of data files from a folder or folders on your iMac into the burn folder. As you drag each item, the iMac's Finder will create an alias for it inside the burn folder, while leaving the original file in its folder.
- 4). Double-click on the burn folder. It will open.
- 5). Click "Burn" at the top of the burn window. Insert a blank DVD into the iMac's optical drive. A dialog window box will appear, telling you to confirm you want to burn the data to the DVD. You can type a new name for the DVD, such as "Data Backup Summer 2011." Click "Burn." The DVD will burn, automatically formatted so it can be used on any Mac or Windows computer.
