How to Gain Weight - The Simple Rules of the Game

103 29
Think of gaining weight as a game, and like any game you need to know the basic rules before you can play.
There seems to be so much information on how to gain weight for the skinny person.
Much of it cam be overwhelming at first.
You could go nuts trying figure out what high calorie super protein supplement to take.
Lets eliminate some of the confusion right now.
You do not need all of this miracle in a pill nonsense.
I am not saying that none of them work, but for right now lets just concentrate on the basics.
The pure fact of the matter, and I have mentioned this before on another article, but it is definitely worth repeating.
It takes 3500 calories to build one pound of muscle.
What does this mean to you, well a lot actually.
Now you have an actual number that you can use to correspond to your weight gain.
I know that does not sound like a big deal now, but wait it will.
In essence it this means that you are going to need to eat another 3500 calories a week to build one pound of muscle! Sounds like an abundance of calories for just one pound.
If we break this down we need 500 calories more a day.
If you have not guessed it step one is going to be eating more to get those calories in you.
Luckily 500 calories more a day is not that hard.
The smoothie just might be a gift from the gods when it comes to gaining weight.
I actually use a recipe that has about 675 calories in one serving and is absolutely amazing in taste.
I said goodbye forever to the powdered meals that tasted horrible.
Smoothies are quick and easy to prepare plus they taste great.
Although smoothies are a godsend, you will need to make time for another meal during the day in addition to what you having now.
I know people are saying at 6 - 8 times a day, but right now just do this, it is a simple step you can implement today..
...
baby steps, walk before you run approach.
Drink more water.
One of the most important factors is water.
Think of yourself like a farmer and you need to water those muscles.
I am willing to bet that most skinny people drink quite a bit of soda.
It may work to put pounds on other people but for thin people it actually acts as an appetite suppression.
Once you cut the soda out and start drinking more water I am willing to bet that you will find it easier to eat more.
Besides now that you are taking in all those good proteins and calories, they are going to need water to work.
Sleep is powerful force.
This is the time when our bodies repair themselves.
Also during this time our bodies burn more calories than you might think, so make sure you have good high protein meal or smoothie before you go to bed.
If your muscles are going to repair themselves they are going to need the resources.
I do not think anyone is ever going to recommend to someone who is having a hard time gaining weight but is otherwise healthy to not workout.
If you are going to build muscle and look good at the beach you are going to have to workout, there is just not too many ways around that.
You will have to make the time to go to the gym, or invest in a home gym.
I promise you the results are going to worth it.
Think about it one pound a week.
Not earth shattering, but if you weigh 140 pounds right now, in one month you could be at 145 pounds..
..
but of muscle and next month at 150 pounds.
Ask any hard-gainer if he would not like to have 10 more pounds of muscle in two months.
In the beginning it is very much a baby step sort of feeling.
Never forget however that compound interest is one of the most powerful forces in the universe.
You can do it, just in the beginning...
keep it simple.
