United States Airline Safety Rules

  Security and safety measures are a prime concern for every region. Red alerts and threats have become a common feature in the world we live in. As a result, the security meaures in the United States have become extremely stringent. Knowing the dos and don'ts is especially helpful if you are traveling to the States for the first time.
  
  

Transportation Security Administration

• The Transportation Security Administration, or TSA, is a group of over 50,000 individuals serving as security officers, inspectors, air marshals and managers. They work to protect the nation's transportation systems by checking for bombs and other hazardous materials, ensuring that a situation like 9-11 never happens again.

Carrying Liquids

• Liquids should be packed in separate containers. These should not weigh more than 3 oz. The containers should be kept in individual plastic bags, which should be clearly marked, so that the contents of the bottle can be identified.
  
  In case you have repacked your body washes and shampoos, then mark the bottles with a permanent marker. Also, if you are carrying any liquid medicines, like insulin, mark the bottle and the name on the medication, and have your driver's license ready to show.
  
  

Security Check

• You need to remove your jackets, shoes, belts and jewelry before going through the security check. This should be taken into consideration when you are dressing for travel. Try to reduce the items that will need to be removed for the screening.
  
  

Carrying Your Pet

• If you have a pet, like a small cat or dog, then you can fly with it. However, you need to reconfirm this with your airline before you plan your travel. Check beforehand if you can carry on your pet, or if you have to put it in the cargo.
  
  

Packing Your Carry-on Bag

• Do not throw items into a suitcase without first organizing them. TSA suggests using layers; starting with a layer of clothes, then electronics, followed by more clothes, ending with the heaviest items on top. If everything is thrown into the suitcase without being organized, it can make innocent items, like iPods or video players, seem like a threat to security officers.
