Free Credit Reports - Why I"m A Skeptic And How Not To Get Ripped OFF
I'm a skeptic.
I got ripped off and I want other people to be warned.
Here's some tips and tricks - to really get a Free Credit Report and avoid Scammers and Fraudsters.
Did you know that millions of American people are getting stung by monthly fees when they don't have to be? Do you know that the bureaus have recently been hit with fines of over $1.
2 million against them, you need to know how they operate so you don't get caught like me.
I'll save you money and protect your identity, as Identity thieves target credit report consumers.
Did you know that Identity Theft is the fastest growing crime in America.
Nothings for free right? "there's no such thing as a free lunch" is what your parents may have told you.
That's sage advice and can be applied to Free Credit Reports.
I'm a skeptic for good reason.
Did you know that the big three American Credit Bureaus act like cartel? Yes they have closed competitors out of the market and get you thinking that you need a credit alert on your credit report so that you don't get stung by identity theft.
How the Credit Cartels Get you Paying More Well it's a cold meal served with a bit of a "Scare Mongering" for main course and then "Convenience" for dessert.
You see they will state you need protection when you buy your credit report and then hit you with a monthly charge that will keep on getting billed onto your account until you try and cancel it.
They don't make that easy for you too.
Let's look at the first charge I put against them - "Scare Mongering" You just have to do a Google search for Credit Report Identity Theftand you will see a lot of articles all over the web by high trafficked sites like ABC News and others - they always have references to the big bureaus and scoring agencies peddling a fear campaign and then following into the benefits of an alert service.
There are benefits to an alert service and there sure is a lot of identity theft going on - especially on the web but there are more effective ways to guard against identity theft.
Just look a the criteria for an alert to occur All of these conditions must be met, they include:
- Activity must be first reported to a credit agency.
- The credit agency to which the activity is reported must be one that you are monitoring.
It's useless if you do no have alerts on the other credit reports from the other bureaus.
- Both the Social Security Number and the name used in the transaction must actually match your credit report.
Therefore, If the fraudster uses your Social Security Number and a different name, you will not be alerted.
Also, you can't just have alerts from one bureau you need to get for all three so that's $540.
So $540 compared to $60 for 3 report for 3 times of the year, a HUGE saving! Yes $60 is all you need to pay for a more effective service.
Get one free report form each bureau (the government give every US citizen a free report.
Plus you should get another 3 copies twice a year to keep checking on your report.
You can get a 3 in 1 credit report for $30.
I really do sincerely hope this information gets your mind ticking over.
I also hope it provides you with a few tips.
