Scale diecast, or diecast toys, are made of plastic and metal.
The metal is comprised of zamak, which is an alloy of aluminum and zinc.
When someone speaks of diecast, they are usually referring to diecast scale models and cars.
Other popular types of diecast toys are airplanes and trains.
You would think that diecast toys were only for kids, since they are described as toys, but that is far from the truth as they have become highly sought after items for collectors and investors.
Over the years, these collectibles have become a big hit for those seeking to add to their collections and for those investing in the future.
The term "scale" refers to the size of the scale diecast toy.
Scales range from 1:76, which is a very small, highly detailed model, to 1:12, which is a very large model that is usually up to 15 inches long.
There are 9 different scales between the largest and smallest, combining to give collectors and investors 11 different sizes to choose from and to invest in.
Collectors and investors are not only interested in scale diecast models, but also the accessories that go along with them.
Replicas of gas stations and restaurants along with race tracks that have loops and curves, make great additions to models that are being collected.
There are also many different scale diecast brands.
These range from the ever popular Hot Wheels and Matchbox to the Dinky Toys brand which is one of the first scale diecast toys produced.
With today's scale diecast collectibles ranging from buses, cars, trucks, farm equipment, construction equipment, aircraft, military models and NASCAR, collectors and investors will have a seemingly never ending selection of scale diecast collectibles to choose from.
