- 1). String the lights onto the tree first. Start at the top of the tree and work around to the bottom. Try to put lights around the edges of the branches to make a pretty tree silhouette when the lights are lit up.
- 2). Add the tree topper to the very tip of your tree, making sure it is secured properly. If the topper has lights on it, make sure the cord from the tree lights will reach the plug inside your tree topper.
- 3). Twirl garland around the tree in the same style as you did the lights, but start at the bottom and work around the tree in circles. Drape the garland from the branches. If you're not using garland, ribbons are a nice alternative.
- 4). Hang ornaments beginning at the bottom. Heavy ornaments should be on lower branches, with lighter ornaments towards the top. Hang the ornaments evenly and make sure there are no large gaps in between ornaments.
- 5). Examine the tree by standing back a distance from it, searching for gaps or ornaments that are too close together. Correct those spots. Plug the lights in and enjoy your tree.
