Airport Security All Wrapped Up
It's amazing how many bags are lost each year, 28 out of 1000 according to one of the worst offending airlines, but around 85% of these are recovered just a few days later, all belongings present and correct.
This is an inconvenience, obviously, especially if you've only gone away for a couple of nights and your favourite outfit, jewellery and only clean pants are in there, but what's much worse is when your bag is stolen or tampered with.
This can be pretty serious when it comes to things like drugs being planted in your suitcase or those family heirlooms being stolen (although it's probably not a good idea to put that sort of thing in the hold anyway).
It's bad enough being the one who stands looking at the one suitcase going round and round and realising it's not theirs (whose is it!), only to realise that theirs isn't coming but to be the one who realises the padlock has been tampered with and things are missing or someone has rifled through your clothes looking for something of value or interest.
It's amazing how simple it is to prevent this from happening though, or at least to minimise the risk, it's all about the bag wrap.
It's not a particularly new technique and you may even have scoffed at those bags which look like they are essentially covered in Clingfilm, but you won't scoff if you get into serious trouble for carrying something illegal or your dirty washing is aired to the world because your zip's sprung open on the carousel.
The other major plus about bag wrap is that it puts people off even trying to tamper or steal your luggage; it's the burglar alarm or front gate of the luggage world.
Bag wrap services are available in pretty much all major airports and railway stations these days so not only are they convenient but they've also become highly competitive in terms of pricing so it's not something you'll need to um and ah over because of the price.
Scoff all you like at the luggage that doesn't look pretty and designer but is it really worth the risk not to have your precious luggage wrapped?
