How to Cut Steel Castings With a Water Jet
- 1). Press "Mode Select" on the water jet. Press "C" to open the program catalog. Scroll through the programs and highlight the one you want to use. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to create your own cutting program. A program is the pattern in which the steel casting will be cut.
- 2). Press "Mode Select." Press "G" to initiate a test sequence. This process will take a few minutes. Press "Clear" when the test sequence is finished.
- 3). Press "Cycle Start," and enter your name using the console keyboard.
- 4). Rotate water jet valve No. 3 clockwise to open it. Let the tank fill with water, then rotate the valve counterclockwise to close it. Open valves No. 1 and No. 2. Move the pressure control knob to the minimum setting. Power on the water jet motor.
- 5). Insert the base plate into the chamber of the water jet. Secure the base plate with the interior clamps. Lay the steel casting on top of the base plate. Arrange the mounting blocks on top of the base plate so they do not make contact with the steel casting.
- 6). Press "Start." Press "Mode Select." Press "JOG" to jog the water nozzle. Adjust the knob in the water jet chamber until the nozzle makes contact with the steel casting. Press "JOG." Close the water jet chamber door.
- 7). Press "Mode Select." Press "Auto(1)." Press "Clear."
- 8). Adjust the "Abrasive" and "High Pressure" settings to "Auto." Consult the water jet's instructions manual for setting adjustment instructions.
- 9). Rotate the control knob to increase the water pressure to 35,000 Ksi.

Press "Cycle Start" to begin the cutting program.
