How To Eat At An Airport When You" re On A Diet
Airports, being entertainment and dining zones just as much as a mall or city street these days, are full of fast-food restaurants. Not that they deserve the title of restaurant for the sort of food that they serve, but they are there and they are likely to be the most common and cheapest place you can eat while at the airport. Even when catching flights from London to Calgary you'll be confronted with many fast food eateries.
If you take flights from some states, like flights from Portland to San Diego then you may get lucky and find that local law makers have made it a legal requirement for fast-food restaurants to display the number of calories in each of their meals. By studying the calorific content of a meal, and by understanding exactly how many calories you need to eat each day, you can see if any of the fast-food options are a sensible choice. Even some of the salads and options presented as healthy and 'diet' are in fact coated in salad dressings so thick that they are just as bad as burgers and fries.
There is of course the other options. You could either eat at a high-end and costly restaurant, and buy food that's more lovingly prepared and not coated in salt and wrapped in fat. Or, while waiting for flights from Phoenix to Boston, you could eat a lunch or dinner that you made at home. Though there are restrictions on bringing liquid through security, there are fewer restrictions on importing food, especially if you aren't going to take it on the plane. This is of course the cheapest option.
